FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Assistance
Henderson County Disaster Recovery Center at 2111 Asheville Hwy will have FEMA representatives on hand to help answer questions and file Hazard Mitigation Grant Applications. After Thanksgiving Jubilee

Gashes Creek Baptist Christmas Giving Tree
Gashes Creek Baptist Church invites you to partner with them for their Christmas Giving Tree, providing Christmas (toys and clothes) to children ages 2-17 that were impacted by Hurricane Helene. If you would like to adopt a child for Christmas, contact Rylee at 864-556-1372. Financial gifts are welcome and will be used to purchase items for the children. Haywood Electric Planned Outage
Duke Energy plans to replace a transmission pole feeding Haywood Electric’s Quebec and Rosman Substations overnight DECEMBER 7th & 8th and will require a planned outage, beginning at approximately 9:00 PM on Saturday and ending around 6:00 AM on Sunday. This outage will affect Lake Toxaway, Quebec, Balsam Grove, Rosman, Wolf Ridge, Wolf Mountain, Round Mountain Road, Pickens Highway, Old Toxaway Road, US-64 (between Rosman and Whitewater Road), Silversteen Road, Canada Road, Whitewater Road, Cold Mountain, Golden Road, Parkway Road (NC215), Blue Ridge Road, and Macedonia Church Road. Residents in the Sapphire, Bear Lake, Conestee Falls, and East Fork areas may face a brief outage as operation crews work to isolate these areas from the larger outage from Duke Energy.

Holiday Donations for Care Facilities
The Ombudsman Program is accepting holiday donations for long-term care facilities in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania Counties. Donations will be provided to the facilities during the Christmas holiday season. Examples of donations include infant baby dolls and accessories, non-toxic paints/brushes, large print word search books, adult coloring books, crayons, personal care items, throw blankets, non-skid socks, winter hats/gloves, socks, t-shirts, women’s costume jewelry and craft supplies. The Hog Town (Little River) Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 14th. The Parade begins at 1pm at Little River Baptist Church and will travel down Cascade Lake Rd, to Hart Rd, Merrill Lane, and back to the Church.

NC Low Income Energy Assistance Program
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Low Income Energy Assistance Program will be accepting applications during the month of December. This program provides a one-time payment directly to heating vendors. To be eligible for the LIEAP program, a household must have a least one US Citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility requirements, have income equal to or less than 130% of the federal poverty limit, and be responsible for their heating costs. Beginning in January, other eligible households may begin applying. Applications can be submitted in person at your county DSS office, or online at epass.nc.gov
